Spitzkoppe

Spitzkoppe is another photographers little gem. Located north east of Swakopmund these enormous 120 million year old granite boulders make for good hikes as well as photographs.

In 1896 a German colonial trading post was opened at the base of the mountain called 'Spitzkopje', and later on it was transferred over and a police station was built.

After time, the land was reappropriated with compensation to home Damara families.

There are walking tracks and roped paths up and around the mountain that are home to remnants of the colonial era and rock paintings.
